Maserati Quattroporte Gets A Minor, Stylish Update


The sixth-gen Quattroporte has just been subjected to a facelift, three years after its launch. 

Visual differences between the 2017MY and the outgoing one are so subtle that only Maserati aficionados will be able to tell them apart.

The revised luxury saloon comes with a revised bumper design (with matte black profile at the front and the matte black extractor at the rear), a more pointed and imposing front grille with new vertical chrome elements and slightly restyled side skirts and mirrors. 

In order to improve aerodynamics, an electrically adjustable “Air Shutter” has been fitted at the front grille between the air vents and the engine’s radiator, providing optimal control for the engine’s fluid temperatures. Aided by the optimized front and rear bumpers and flat bottom, it reduces aerodynamic drag by 10%. 

The cabin features a redesigned central part that now accommodates a capacitive high resolution 8.4” screen with multi-touch function and an infotainment system that's compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additionally, the central lower console has also been redesigned and now comes with a rotary knob for volume and function control.

The new Quattroporte will be offered in two distinctive trims, each one with its unique approach towards the key pillars of the brand’s DNA: GranLusso and GranSport. The first focuses of luxury, while the GranSport underscores the QP's sporty character. 

Mechanical-wise, Maserati’s flagship will be available with the same range of engines and transmissions, albeit the Italian car manufacturer is also bringing, to certain markets, a 350ps (345hp) variant of its V6 engine. 

The GTS will be powered by the same 530ps (523bhp), 710 Nm (523 lb-ft) of torque, 3.8-litre, Ferrari-produced V8 Twin-Turbo – good for propelling the car from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in a mere 4.7 seconds, all the way to a 310 km/h top speed – while 3.0-litre V6 will chug out 410ps (404hp) and 550 Nm (405 lb-ft) of torque. The range is completed by the 3.0-litre V6 diesel which keeps the same output and performance figures.
