Range Rover Sport Coupe spied for the first time

Spy photographers have snapped the first photos of what is being billed as the Range Rover Sport Coupe.
Caught undergoing testing in Scotland, the highly camouflaged model will reportedly be positioned as a sportier alternative to the Range Rover Sport.  The crossover is also slated to battle the BMW X6 and the Mercedes GLE Coupe.
Little is known about the model but the pictures show it has a familiar front fascia, a rakish windscreen, and a relatively low roof.  The crossover also has a slender greenhouse and a sporty rear end with a dual exhaust system.
The spies couldn't get close enough to snap interior photos but the model is expected to have a driver focused cockpit with sporty styling details.  We can also expect an assortment of high-tech goodies including a touchscreen infotainment system and an assortment of driver assistance features.
The Range Rover Sport Coupe will reportedly ride on the company's aluminum-intensive platform iQ[AI] platform instead of the older architecture that underpins the Range Rover Sport.  This likely means engines will be shared with the Jaguar F-Pace, so expect choices to include a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 that produces 340 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque.  There could also be hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants as well as a fully-electric model that borrows its powertrain for the upcoming Jaguar E-Pace.
The Range Rover Sport Coupe is expected to be unveiled late next year as a 2018 model.
