Bentley Has A Surprise In Store For Us In Geneva
Automakers from across Europe and around the world are descending on Geneva for the motor show next week. And that includes Bentley, which has something unexpected in store for us.
The British manufacturer will showcase its new Continental GT at the show, along with the Bentayga V8. But it’s also promising “an exciting new model” of undisclosed parameters, to be unveiled by Adrian Hallmark. The new chairman and CEO recently took over from Wolfgang Dürheimer, and this will be his first public outing as head of the storied marque.
Just what that new model will be, we couldn’t say for sure. But we do have a guess or two. It could be the extremely exclusive, Mulsanne-based Grand Convertible that was recently announced for strictly limited production. Maybe the production version of the Speed 6 sports-car concept. It could also be a plug-in hybrid version of the Bentayga. Or maybe it’ll be something different entirely.
More likely, though, we’ll be looking at a new member of the Continental family – either the convertible GTC or the four-door Flying Spur. Both have been spotted testing recently and are due to follow the new coupe recently introduced. (There’s a new GT3 racing version in the works, too, but we’ve already seen what that will look like.)
Whatever that undisclosed surprise will be, it will be joined as well the Mulliner personalization division, which will showcase new aniline leather and open-poor veneer options on a customized version of the existing Flying Spur W12.
Bentley will hold its press conference on March 6 at 8:40 am, central European time. So tune in then to see what it has in store.
