Infiniti Prototype 10 Shows Its Sleek Bodywork In Latest Teaser
Infiniti has been doling out teaser images of a mysterious new concept for the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and now the company has shown something useful.
According to the automaker, the concept will be called the Prototype 10 and it is being billed as a “daring electrified speedster that provides a window into the brand’s desire to deliver driving pleasure and thrilling performance from electrified powertrains.”
While previous teaser images have only shown the concept’s single-seat cockpit, the latest picture gives us a full glimpse of the car. It looks nothing else in the company’s lineup and it’s far more modern than last year’s Prototype 9.
Starting up front, we can see an aerodynamic front fascia which lacks a grille. This suggests the concept could be an electric vehicle.
Moving further back, we can see a short windscreen and a triangular fin element with prominent Infiniti badging. The sketch also suggests the model will have a long hood, aerodynamic side skirts and massive wheels.
In a statement, Infiniti Executive Design Director Karim Habib said “The Infiniti Prototype 10 echoes the layout and design of some of the most evocative car designs of all time, where power was celebrated through high-powered single-seat competition cars.” He added the model “speaks of an electrified future, something which is reflected in its form and details.”
Infiniti is staying tight-lipped about performance specifications, but the Prototype 9 had a lithium-ion battery and an electric motor that produced 148 hp (120 kW / 150 PS) and 236 lb-ft (320 Nm) of torque. This enabled the rear-wheel drive model to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 5.5 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 105 mph (170 km/h).
It remains unclear if the company’s latest concept will feature a similar powertrain, but full details will be released on August 23rd.
