Infiniti Teases Electrified Performance Concept Penned By Former BMW Design Chief

This year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance event on August 23rd will feature a brand new electrified performance concept from Infiniti, signaling the brand’s intent as they head towards an all-electric future.

While we don’t know what it’s called, we can tell you that this concept is the very first project concluded by the automaker’s new executive design director (and former BMW design boss), Karim Habib, together with his teams in Japan, the UK and U.S.

According to Infiniti, the vehicle will “provide a window into the brand’s desire to deliver driving enjoyment and thrilling performance from electrified powertrains.”

Habib also described the new concept as capable of providing clues to where the Infiniti brand is heading. Thus, Future Infiniti models will be powerful, efficient and “a joy to drive”, which is good news for car enthusiasts that still worry about electric vehicles not being as fun as petrol-powered ones.

This new concept follows in the footsteps of last year’s Pebble Beach attendee, the Prototype 9 retro e-roadster, as well as the Q Inspiration Concept, unveiled earlier this year at NAIAS.

Infiniti plans on launching its first fully-electric vehicle in 2021, which will be sold alongside multiple hybrid models. The hybrids will be utilizing a small gasoline engine together with a high-output battery, powering an electric motor – it’s called e-POWER technology.
