First Photos Of Honda’s New Civic Hatchback Concept

Honda will give be giving us a modestly exaggerated idea of what their 2017 Civic Hatch will look like with a concept model at next week’s Geneva Motor Show.

As you can see from these low-res, but official images that popped up online, the Civic Hatchback Prototype is nothing more than the production car adorned with a stylish body-kit that gives it a more aggressive appearance through the modified bumpers, side skirts, chunky alloy wheels and lime-green accents.

The design is a continuation of the new Civic saloon (already on sale in the USA) and coupe models with the same cues on the front and rear ends, though the hatchback’s smaller footprint and differentiated roofline afford it a more dynamic stance.

There’s a strong chance that the study may actually be previewing a sporty edition of the Civic hatch, possibly even the Si or perhaps a Type S model, which is rumored to get a de-tuned version of the next Type R’s 2.0-liter turbocharged four-banger, producing somewhere around 230-horses, to go up against the VW Golf GTI and Ford Focus ST.

For the European market, Honda has already confirmed two new VTEC turbocharged gasoline engines with a displacement of 1.0-liters and 1.5-liters for the Civic, while in North America, the hatch should come with the 1.5-liter turbo and the 2.0-liter turbo VTECs.

All Civic hatchbacks will be built by Honda at its Swindon factory in Britain.
