New 2017 Renault Scenic Minivan – This Is It!

The organizers of the 2016 Geneva Motor Show gave us an unexpected surprise today dropping the first official image of Renault’s all-new 2017 Scenic compact MPV.

Believe it or not, the design is very close to Renault’s R-Space concept back from 2011, albeit without the ‘suicide-style’ pillarless rear doors and with a taller ride height.

We suspect that the French firm will market it in a similar fashion to the larger Espace, as a practical and spacious minivan with crossover qualities.

Based on the Renault-Nissan Alliance's modular CMF platform shared with the Megane, the new Scenic will occupy the space between the brand’s Captur and Kadjar SUVs in regards to size and pricing, offering a similar range of engines as the compact hatch. These should include a choice of 1.6-liter turbocharged petrols and diesels stretching from 110PS to 205PS paired to either manual or dual clutch automatic transmissions

The new Scenic will be followed up by a longer and more upright Grand Scenic that will likely make its debut at the Paris Motor Show this fall.
