New Audi R8 V10 Spyder Debuts In Plus Guise With 601HP

The all-new Audi R8 V10 Spyder Plus is the most powerful convertible ever made in Ingolstadt.

Joining the likes of the second generation R8 Spyder, which debuted last year, it features all the goodies you'd find in its fixed-roof sibling, and then some.

At its heart, it carries the 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine that now makes 610PS (601hp) and 560Nm (413lb-ft) of torque, pushed to all four corners through a sporty 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Tipping the scales at 1,587kg (3,499lbs), or 25kg (55lbs) less than the regular R8 Spyder, this German supercar needs just 3.3 seconds to reach 100km/h (62mph) from a standstill, and it will keep going up to 328km/h (204mph). This represents a 0.3sec and 10km/h (6mph) improvement over the lesser variant.

Exclusive to the new Audi R8 V10 Spyder Plus is the micrommata green paint, which is joined by the anthracite gray single frame grille, black tailpipe covers, standard 19-inch wheels or optional 20-inch ones, and a predominantly black interior, with Nappa leather, green stitching, and special floor mats.

Being the range-topping version of the R8 Spyder family, the new Plus gets a wide range of features, including the standard bucket seats, 12.3-inch Audi Virtual Cockpit, Audi Drive Select, and ceramic brakes.

The potent machine can also be personalized with 11 regular paint finishes, three colors for the convertible top, five colors for the side blades, parts in carbon or titanium black on the outside and in the cabin, and numerous upholstery types, inlays, and colors, all of them available through the Audi exclusive program.

Prices for the new Audi R8 V10 Spyder Plus start from €207,500 ($232,450) in Germany, and the first cars will be delivered in late summer. No pricing details have been announced for the US market, but expect it to be more expensive than the current model, which can be had from $175,100.
