New Kia Stonic Sub-Compact SUV Officially Unveiled
Kia has pulled the wraps off their new Stonic, a sub-compact SUV that aims to compete in the ever-busy B-SUV segment.
The new Kia Stonic will rival models like the Nissan Juke, the Renault Captur and of course its cousin, the freshly revealed Hyundai Kona.
Unlike the provocative design language Hyundai chose for their model, Kia has kept the Stonic’s design closer to the ground and in-line with the rest of its models. However, customers will be given the option of choosing a two-tone paint finish from a list of 20 available combinations.
Kia will also offer vivid color packs for the cabin as well while the dashboard hosts the company’s latest infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Car Play as standard.
Models destined for Europe will get their own specifically tuned steering and suspension while the available engine range will include a turbocharged 120PS 1.0-litre T-GDI unit, along with naturally aspirated 1.25- and 1.4-litre units. A 1.6-litre diesel engine will also be available, providing the lowest emission rating in the range.
“The Kia Stonic will be one of the most compelling new cars in this rapidly-expanding class, backed by Kia’s unique warranty, and the brand’s reputation for reliability, quality and contemporary design. As the segment expands, the Stonic looks set to become one of our best-selling cars,” said Michael Cole, COO of Kia Motors Europe.
The new Kia Stonic will also offer a wide range of driver assistance systems, including Autonomous Emergency Braking with pedestrian recognition and Forward Collision Alert, Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Lane Departure Warning System.
Sales of the new Kia Stonic are expected to start across Europe during the third quarter of 2017.
