BMW M Performance Parts Concept Is A Lightweight M2 Designed For Goodwood

The Goodwood Festival of Speed kicks off tomorrow and BMW celebrating this year’s event by unveiling the M Performance Parts concept.

Based on the M2, the concept is a track-focused model that features optimized aerodynamics and a weight reduction of more than 132 lbs (60 kg).

As the name suggests, the concept has been equipped with an assortment of M Performance Parts including a carbon fiber grille, hood and front fender vents. That’s just the tip of the iceberg as designers also installed carbon fiber winglets up front and on the sides of the vehicle. Other carbon fiber components include the roof, tailgate and rear diffuser.

Sticking with the outside with the vehicle, the concept rides on 19-inch M Performance wheels which feature a Frozen Gold finish.  The color is visible elsewhere as designers added bright accents to the grille, sides and rear diffuser.

Moving into the cabin, the concept has M Performance carbon fiber sport seats which have Alcantara upholstery as well as gold contrast stitching. Drivers will also find a leather and Alcantara M Performance steering wheel, a matching handbrake and a carbon fiber shifter.

To further reduce weight, BMW installed M Performance lightweight rear seats which feature Alcantara upholstery and gold M logos. Besides looking fantastic, they weigh 28.6 lbs (13 kg) less than the standard seats.

Rounding out the interior highlights are alloy pedals, special door sill plates and Alcantara / carbon fiber trim finishers. Drivers will also find velour floor mats with gold edging.

BMW declined to mention performance specifications, but the car has been equipped with an M Performance coilover suspension that reduces the ride height by up to 20 mm (0.7 inches). The suspension also features independently adjustable dampers with 12 different compression stages and 16 rebound settings.
