Hyundai Venue Crossover To Premiere At New York Auto Show

An all-new crossover from Hyundai will premiere at next month’s New York Auto Show. Dubbed the 2020 Hyundai Venue, the vehicle will be the smallest crossover the South Korean automaker has built.

It will appeal to younger buyers looking to have a good time. That plays in with the name ‘Venue’, which Hyundai says has been selected in reference to a place where people want to be seen. It’s, therefore, a slightly different naming scheme than existing Hyundai crossover and SUV models named after specific locations, like the Kona and Santa Fe.

Limited details about the vehicle are known and a teaser of the crossover simply shows off the large ‘Venue’ badge on the rear. In the lead up to the vehicle’s premiere on April 17, we do expect Hyundai to release more teasers, however.

The baby crossover from Hyundai has been spied in various locations around the world and some publications assert that it is related to the Carlino concept presented in India three years ago. If that’s the case, we expect to see a boxier shape than the Kona and styling more closely related to the Carlino.

Beyond the exterior design, the Hyundai Venue is also said to be loaded with a host of technologies which are impressive for a vehicle of its size and price. Among these could be an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Venue could also receive up to seven airbags.

Engine options will vary depending on the market but may include a 1.0-liter turbocharged petrol three-cylinder, a 1.4-liter petrol, and a 1.4-liter diesel.
