Karma To Introduce Updated Revero And New Vision Concept In China
Karma Automotive rose from the ashes of Fisker Automotive and it’s been selling an updated version of the original Karma – now called Revero – ever since.
The Karma originally went into production in 2011 and that’s eternity in the world of electrified vehicles. Thankfully, big changes are coming as Karma Automotive will use the Shanghai Auto Show to introduce at least two new vehicles.
The company is keeping details under wraps, but they will unveil a new Revero and an electric Vision concept in China. The automaker will also present the “first results of a partnership with Pininfarina.”
Karma was coy on specifics, but said the “next-generation” Revero will go on sale in the second half of the year. That isn’t much to go on, but previous spy photos have shown the Revero will be getting a facelift that includes new bumpers and restyled lighting units.
The automaker also released a teaser image of the Vision concept which features full width taillights and a compact greenhouse. Karma says the car previews their “long-term direction in terms of luxury craftsmanship, advanced technology, and an evolution in luxury design language.”
Karma didn’t say much else about the model, but it’s worth noting the concept in an electric vehicle rather than a range-extended model like the Revero. This isn’t too surprising as modern electric vehicles offer hundreds of miles of range without any compromise.
In a statement, Karma CEO Dr. Lance Zhou said “Karma’s Shanghai Big Three represents our transformation from an old-value car manufacturer to a company building long-term value in part by becoming an open-platform luxury high-tech automotive incubator.” That sounds like typical CEO techno babble, but Zhou went on to say “We have a solid product plan that spans the next decade and relationships with the right partners who are helping us accelerate technology and product development.”
