Ford's new GT Competition Series was built with weight-saving in mind, but also with an improved center of gravity for better road-holding. Among its features, you'll notice the lightweight carbon fiber racing stripes, A-Pillars and side mirrors, as well as the unique race-inspired Perspex acrylic engine hatch with integrated venting. Thanks to the manual latch and the carbon fiber prop rod, weight near the roof has been reduced, though Ford engineers went even further in their quest to make the car lighter, by making the bulkhead Gorilla Glass behind the driver about half as thick (and as light) as on other models. New Mercedes-AMG GT4 Race Car Revealed

Mercedes has officially revealed the AMG GT4, the latest member of its customer racing programme, at the 24-Hour race of Spa-Francorchamps. The new race car is based on the AMG GT-R road car and -as the name suggests- it aims to compete in the growing GT4 category, once Mercedes delivers the first examples to customer racing teams towards the end of the year. Power comes from the same twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 which in this case has been tuned to offer up to 510hp and over 442lb-ft (600Nm) of torque. Strapped to it is a transaxle six-speed sequential competition gearbox, with the differential being adjustable from the outside. The chassis and the bodywork are made out of a mix of aluminum and carbon fiber, with the structure being a lightweight and very rigid aluminum spaceframe straight from the AMG GT-R. The Mercedes-AMG Project One's Rear Looks Insane

Mercedes-AMG has released one final teaser image of its Project One hypercar before the Frankfurt Motor Show. This teaser is the most revealing to date and shows off most of the F1-powered road car’s rear-end. As previous images have revealed, the Project One will feature a large roof scoop while it’ll ditch a rear window in favor of two massive NACA ducts and air vents over the Formula One-derived 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 engine. Elsewhere, the teaser offers a glimpse of the hypercar’s taillights and just like a current Formula One car, it features a single central exhaust pipe and two smaller exhausts dedicated for the wastegates. As we’ve known for some time, the Project One’s F1 engine will be mated to the same energy recovery systems as the race car.
