Ringbrothers Are Bringing Four Restomods Projects To SEMA
“They don’t make ‘em like they used to” because they’re actually making them better.
Although classic car aficionados won’t admit it (that easily), owning and maintaining an old automobile can be a pain in real life. It requires dedication, expertise, patience, and money, but when everything runs smoothly, as it’s supposed to, the experience of owning such a vehicle is very rewarding.
If you’re not into tinkering and dedicating your spare time to fixing something that’s supposed to make your life easier (not the other way around), but you still fancy the beautiful 1960s and 70s bodies, then restomodding might be what you’re looking for. And when it comes to modernizing American classics, they don’t get better than the Ringbrothers.
No, they’re not some kind of Nordschleife gurus, but rather two gentlemen from Spring Green, Wisconsin (Jim and Mike Ring) known for specializing in making old cars feel like new. This year they’ll unveil four new projects at SEMA, including a Chevrolet, a Ford, and a Winnebago, and a Cadillac Series V fastback.
The latter, named “Madam V” is one of the most daring builds undertaken by Jim and Mike, as they sacrificed two brand new 2016 Cadillac ATS-Vs in order to create a one-of-a-kind machine that melds vintage with modern.
The G-Code Camaro will also steal some looks, especially as it’s the second and fastest 1969 model the brothers have built so far. Although the official figures are confidential (for now), they tell us that it's going to get a Wegner Whipple supercharged LS3 under the hood.
And then there’s the Mustang; a 1965 wide-body model that’s powered by a supercharged 5.8-iter Ford V8 “borrowed” from a GT500.
Last but not least, there’s the “The World’s Fastest Winnebago” – as described by the Ringbrothers; a 900+ horsepower RV with a World War Two Bomber-inspired interior.
